Translation Studies Abstracts (TSA) is a substantial database containing abstracts from leading journals, online publications, collected volumes, and doctoral theses in translation studies and related disciplines. The Bibliography of Translation (BTS) consists of abstracts of authored and collected volumes, and descriptions of leading journals in the field of Translation Studies (BTSJ). You can either quickly search the entire database using the simple search interface or conduct more advanced searches using the advanced search interface. The search engine allows searching using any combination of title (of abstracted item), language of publication, category, author or date of publication, plus key word and full text (of the abstracts). In BTS it is also possible to search by audience, level and relevance of publication. In both TSA and BTS, you can use wildcards to refine your search.
Other features include:
TSA covers articles in printed journals, online publications and collected volumes, as well as abstracts of doctoral theses. BTS covers abstracts of authored and edited volumes. Both TSA and BTS cover material published in any language, anywhere in the world. All abstracts are provided in English. Click here to see samples from the archives.
Abstracts of articles in TSA are provided by the editor of the relevant publication, author of article, editor of TSA, or an independent abstractor. Abstracts of volumes in BTS are provided by independent abstractors.
Click here if you would like to contribute abstracts on a one-off basis, or contact the editors if you would like to become a regular contributor.
If you would like us to consider abstracting sources not currently included in the database please feel free to contact the TSA Editor or BTS Editors.
Independent contributors who submit abstracts on a regular basis are allowed access to the contents of TSA/BTS Online and are entitled to a free yearly subscription starting from the following November 1. If you would like to become a regular contributor please contact the TSA Editor or BTS Editors.
Subscriptions Questions
Click here to proceed to the online subscription interface. After subscription and payment procedures are completed, individual as well as institutional subscribers (librarians, etc.) will be notified thrugh an e-mail message from the publisher that their account has been activated. Individual subscribers will then be able to access the database using their login name and a password. Access from subscribing institutions is automatic. If you have any queries, contact St. Jerome Publishing.
Subscribers to TSA/BTS Online enjoy unlimited access to a vast and regularly updated archive of research material in the field.
Access is via password for individual subscribers and via IP address recognition for institutional subscribers. IP recognition is an authenticating process that some websites use to filter out unwanted users. The IP address is usually expressed in dot notation, e.g. 128.121.4.5. The address can be split into a network number (or network address) and a host number unique to each host on the network and sometimes also a subnet address. Institutions such as libraries or corporations with many terminals operating on one site usually have an IP range. To find out what the IP range of your institution is contact your IT department.
You may download and save, print, or email details of any content found in TSA/BTS Online, for personal or teaching use.
